Our Staff are uniquely gifted, called, and equipped to serve the church and further the Kingdom of God in Tar River.
Dougald McLaurin
|
Training needs (in all areas of the church's ministry); pulpit supply, speaking with church and community groups, short interims, and revivals; solos/worship leader; conflict resolution; help with pastor search committees; etc.
Dougald has been married to his college sweetheart for 43 years and has been in ministry 37+ years. They have two adult children - Dougald III who serves on staff at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Lisa who serves as Food Services Director for Carteret County Jail in Beaufort, NC. They are active members of Ephesus Baptist Church in Spring Hope and both serve in leadership positions in their church and community. He has served as Associational Missionary of Tar River Baptist Association for 15 years and seeks to be engaged with member churches any way that he is invited to assist our churches. Dougald currently serves as President of the North Carolina Baptist Associations Conference and is working to strengthen the partnership among associations, churches, and other Baptist entities in areas of church revitalization/church renewal. As a result of this position, he serves on the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina's Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He is also working in partnership with the state convention and the NC Baptist Associations' Conference in the development of a Transitional Pastor Certification Process that involves a covenant relationship between the local church, local association, a certified Transitional Pastor, and the state convention to strengthen the church during the interim - allowing the church to become better prepared for the new pastor God is preparing to serve the local church. He also works with new Associational Missionaries/Directors of Missions in their work with their churches. Dougald's guiding principle in working with member churches is based on a statement made by a denominational leader 20+ years ago as he was sensing God's call into Associational Missions. That statement is, "Any two people genuinely seeking God can work together." Believing this, he heart's desire is to see churches, working together to impact lostness in this generation. |
